Technical Support – Common Problems & Solutions
Collapsible content
1. The fixture doesn’t power on.
Possible causes:
- The power cable is not properly connected.
- The fuse is blown or the power switch is off.
- The internal power supply is faulty.
Solutions:
- Check the power input and make sure the voltage matches AC100–240V, 50/60Hz.
- Replace the fuse with one of the same rating.
- Test with another power cable.
- If the fixture still doesn’t power on, contact Polarlite service — the power supply may need replacement.
2. The LED or lamp doesn’t light up.
Possible causes:
- The light source (LED module or lamp) has failed.
- The power supply or LED driver is damaged.
- Internal wiring or connector is loose.
Solutions:
- First, confirm that the fixture receives power and fans are running.
- Check if the LED power cable connection is secure.
- If you have technical experience, test the voltage at the LED driver output.
- Replace the led board or driver if necessary.
3. The fixture doesn’t respond to DMX signals.
Possible causes:
- Wrong DMX address or channel mode.
- Bad DMX cable or connector.
- No DMX terminator at the end of the line.
Solutions:
- Check that the DMX address on the display matches your controller setup.
- Try replacing the DMX cable with a new one (110Ω standard).
- Make sure the controller output is working by testing another fixture.
- Add a DMX terminator (120Ω) at the end of the chain.
4. The fixture turns on but no light output (shutter closed).
Possible causes:
- The shutter/dimmer channel is closed.
- The DMX channel mapping is incorrect.
Solutions:
- Check the DMX value of the dimmer or shutter channel (should be 255 for full output).
- Switch the fixture to “Auto Run” mode from the menu to test light output.
5. The fixture resets automatically or freezes.
Possible causes:
- DMX signal interference.
- Overheating or unstable power supply.
Solutions:
- Check that power and DMX cables are not running together.
- Clean cooling fans and air vents.
- If the problem persists, reset the fixture to factory settings.
6. The pan/tilt movement is jerky or not smooth.
Possible causes:
- The motor sensor is misaligned.
- DMX signal lag or low refresh rate.
Solutions:
- Perform an auto-reset from the menu.
- Check if the head moves smoothly in “Test Mode”.
- Ensure DMX cables are shielded and properly grounded.
7. The color wheel or gobo wheel is stuck.
Possible causes:
- Wheel motor driver error.
- Dust or mechanical blockage.
Solutions:
- Run a self-test from the fixture menu.
- Gently move the head to release tension, then restart.
- If still not working, open the front cover and clean the wheel area carefully.
8. The fixture overheats or shuts down after a while.
Possible causes:
- Blocked ventilation.
- Faulty temperature sensor.
Solutions:
- Make sure the fixture has at least 30 cm of space for air circulation.
- Check that fans are working normally.
- If overheating continues, stop using immediately and contact Polarfoxlite Technical Support.
